The Platform works with a growing range of robots - from social robots to telepresence bots to ROS2 rovers. Here's what we support and what each robot can do.
Got a ROS2-based robot? We've got you covered - our driver integrates with
standard topics for cameras, IMU, odometry, LiDAR and SLAM maps, and drives
it autonomously: build a map, drop named waypoints, run multi-stop routes,
avoid obstacles and return to the dock to charge.
Works with any ROS2 mobile robot: the driver runs on the robot and
every topic name (cmd_vel, scan, odometry, camera, IMU) is configurable, so it fits your
robot as it is. No robot to hand? Start a simulated one from the fleet page.
Driving a car rather than a rover? Car steering is supported too, and
comes in as a ROS2 robot - see Cars
(Ackermann steering) below.

A car is a different kind of robot: it steers its front wheels and
cannot turn on the spot. Set drive_type: ackermann in the
driver config and The Platform swaps the four-way joystick for a
steering + speed control, because "left" with no throttle is
physically meaningless on a car. Steering holds where you leave it; speed springs
back to zero. A gamepad works too - left stick steers, triggers are throttle and
reverse.
Proven on an AWS DeepRacer running ROS 2 Foxy: it drives from
the browser and streams its camera. Same driver, same dashboard, same API as every
other robot here.

Autonomous driving is car-aware - it never asks for a corner tighter than the car can make, keeps it rolling so it can still steer, and says plainly when it can't meet a final heading instead of spinning on the spot. It does need odometry, and mapping needs a LiDAR. The DeepRacer has neither, so on that car it's manual driving and camera today.
Using the VIAM robotics platform? Our driver connects any VIAM robot with a base
and camera to The Platform - one command to install, auto-start on boot.

Our most feature-packed robot - a friendly social bot with expressive LED displays,
articulated arms, and a full sensor suite including an Orbbec depth camera.

A tablet-based companion robot - great for video calls and remote presence
with its motorized base and tilting head.

The classic telepresence robot - self-balancing, mobile, with a telescopic pole so you can adjust your height and kickstand legs for parking.
AvatarMind's humanoid companion robot - a full-body social robot with articulated arms,
individual finger control, facial expressions, and a rich sensor suite.

The open-source 3D-printed humanoid robot. Full servo control via MyRobotLab with head, arms, hands, and torso - over 25 degrees of freedom.
The Platform is built to be extensible. If you've got a robot you'd like to connect, you'll need to implement our WebSocket protocol and WebRTC for video streaming. It's all documented in the API Documentation.
